The process involves radiant heating, hot air heating, and contact heating.
Role of Thermoforming Machines
Thermoforming is a process of molding plastic using different techniques that result in a variety of highly usable products. During the manufacturing process, thin plastic sheets and rolls are heated to manipulate them easily.
Horizontal automatic packaging machines are characterized by package formation within the machine by using two film coils made of different materials. Based on the material used, packages can be flexible or rigid. Thermoforming machines are used in food as well as non-food markets.
Properties of Thermoforming
The thermoforming polymer has;
- High-density polythene (HDPE) – Stiff, strong, lightweight and good plasticity when heated with excellent chemical resistance.
- Polypropylene (PP) – Lightweight and strong.
- Good heat chemical resistance.
- High oxygen barrier.
The modern food supply chain uses different forms of thermoformed articles such as meat trays, microwaves, deep freeze containers, ice-cream, margarine tubs, snack tubs, delicatessen tubs, bakery, patisserie packaging, sandwich packs, vending drink cups, etc. are just a few of the food-related applications.
